The Gallery Lodges

The Stables, Braunton EX33 1HG, UK – 01271 816776

Absolutely fantastic place! Beautifully presented lodges, with everything you could need. The owners are lovely, nothing is to much. Could not recommend this place enough.. I have loved it!!

Secluded little sanctuary. Well appointed..very smart and clever styling. Would definitely recommend.

The George Inn

Exeter Rd, Braunton EX33 2JJ, UK – 01271 814903

Would definatly recommend! Lovely atmosphere and great staff! Very nice and clean room with a very comfy and cosy bed, and to top it off a good breakfast in the morning. Only one slightly negative point was that the breakfast time started at 8am which I would have preferred an earlier time as I had to be up and out for work early.

Lovely place, clean tidy friendly staff. Really nice food would recommend staying there 👍

The Brookfield

South St, Braunton EX33 2AN, UK – 01271 812382

My wife and I stayed at the Brookfield at short notice for one night it is worthy of five stars the owners where so nice to us when we arrived they made us tea and biscuits in the conservatory it was welcome after our journey from Basingstoke, our room was lovely and the bed was to die for.

playing golf at Saunton with 2 colleagues, absolutely superb. Great modern bedroom and bathroom. The full English was too big for me to handle. Highly recommended

Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

The Kings Arms

Chapel St, Georgeham, Braunton EX33 1JJ, UK – 01271 890240

The staff was helpful, quick and friendly. The menu is a bit pricey but the portions explain the reason. We've ordered two beef pies and they were cooked to perfection. We couldn't finish because it had so much meat inside. They had a fairly good selection of ciders as well. The fries looked like they have recycled them from others people's plate but I would still recommend.

Liz and her staff went above and beyond to help us as well as all of our guests at our wedding. As a wedding videographer and an ex chef, I have seen hundreds of wedding breakfasts but nothing like what was created for us by the Kings Arms. No guest went without, the serving staff were attentive to everyone's needs and there was no question too big or to small for us to ask the manager Liz on the lead up to the day and on the day itself. The food was excellent, the setting was perfect and the staff were above and beyond! If you're having an intimate wedding in the area, a party or celebration I couldn't recommend the Kings Arms and its team more. Massive thank you to everyone and we can't wait to come back, time and time again over the years.

The Braunton Inn

Heanton, Braunton, Barnstaple EX31 4AX, UK – 01271 816547

Went for Sunday lunch on Easter Sunday. Had the roast dinner followed by treacle tart. Service friendly but very slow (they were busy). Roast was good but not enough gravy. Treacle tart did not come with accompaniments advertised which was disappointing. Very dog friendly, we took our little dog with us and there were lots of other dogs there for her to say hello to. Toilets up lots of stairs so not ideal.

Food is generic pub grub but not bad. Friendly and very helpful staff. Fantastic view and so great to sit outside in the sun here.

The Rock Inn

Rock Hill, Georgeham EX33 1JW, UK – 01271 890322

Nice fayre. Good food and atmosphere. Friendly locals about for a quick chat.

Fabulous food and beer and really warm hospitality. We (including the dog) we're made very welcome. Menu choices, especially those on the specials board were excellent. Highly recommend.

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

The Old Bakery B&B and Self-catering Accommodation

Chapel St, Croyde, Georgeham, Braunton EX33 1JJ, UK – 01271 891076

This B&B is one of the most loveliest I've ever been to. The owners, David and Pippa, are kind and humble people, very accommodating and lovely souls to talk with. My boyfriend and I had the opportunity to be gifted five nights through Paul's trust to enjoy time away from hospital appointments and general hectic life. We were given the Garden Room, a self catering cottage, which was delightful and quaint. I would recommend this B&B to anyone who is looking for an opportunity to escape and explore the country side. The location is out of the way, but fairly easy drives to populated locations, with only fifteen minutes to the nearest big town. Thank you so much, David and Pippa, for an amazing time away, and for letting us escape from reality for a while. We are ever so grateful.

Absolutely gorgeous, David and Pippa really made us feel at home. I was lucky enough to have this holiday through Paul’s Fund after completing chemotherapy, and it was so so lovely. Make sure you say hello to Bobby the dog if you go, she loves a good fuss!

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!

Saunton Sands Farm Holiday Cottages

Gallowell Lane Burrows,, Braunton EX33 2NX, UK – 01271 814346

Stephen and Ella invented hospitality that is why we keep coming back. Ella always leaves a nice welcoming touch when we arrive at the cottage. They are very involved in running the place - always there for a chat to see how you are and what you need. Saunton Sands Farm Holiday Cottages are situated in a nature reserve surrounded by beautiful views that makes it the ideal place to relax after a busy day out enjoying all the activities like surfing. The cottages are quiet, comfortable and so well equipt with everything you need for the holiday. They are also very good value for money. After trying various holiday accommodation in the area Saunton Sands Farm Holiday Cottages is still our favourite place to enjoy our holidays any time throughout the year.

Secret Spot Camping

Moor Lane Nursery, Saunton Rd, Braunton EX33 1HG, UK – 07818 423498

The shower block is basic but clean. You can get a bacon buttie and tea in the morning and the camping area is small and quiet. There are no pubs or shops nearby so you need to be self-contained. The people are very pleasant and they will charge your phone if you ask nicely.

Very friendly and helpful staff, cute kittens and dogs, short walk from the shops and a nice (longer) walk to the beach. Alternatively, the bus can drop you right off at the sand!

Pure Camping

Goulds farm, Braunton EX33 1HT, UK – 07909 179117

Look it's really, really pure, in that conditions are very basic (and fairly cheap). Shower cubicle is okay but the lights will go off and plunge you into darkness, another small hut has a microwave and some utensils. We shivered in the largest caravan and several light switches didn't work (all the caravans were probably new when Churchill was in power), a thunderstorm battered us but we stayed dry(ish). Good nearby surfing locations and walks, friendly owner, recommended for hardy couples or the very adventurous, 3 nights max.

Basic, but beautiful. Toilets and hot showers. Quiet field to camp in with woods to explore and a little stream. Very helpful owner.
